CharBagh: A Sensory Garden
Co-Curator (with Faisal Anwar).
Independent Project, Nuit Blanche Festival, Aga Khan Park, Aga Khan Museum & Ismaili Center Toronto, Toronto, Canada (October 1-2, 2016)
Co-curated by Faisal Anwar and Zulfikar Hirji, ‘CharBagh’ is an interactive video installation by Faisal Anwar originally commissioned by the Aga Khan Council for Canada as part of the ‘Sensory Cities’ project and ‘Transformations’ group exhibition. CharBagh uses data-mining in a real-time open network to visualize an Islamic a traditional four-part garden. The installation builds upon Anwar’s ‘Tweet Garden’ (2010- 2013). CharBagh’s visual presentation and related programming explore the potential of social media and big data to spark positive social change, particularly among youth. The exhibition was part of the 2016 Nuit Blanche Festival.
